Dick is author of the world’s best selling career book, What Color Is Your Parachute? which he updates every year. He has been a leader in the career development field for decades.
Dick created the field of life planning in 1978, with publication of The Three Boxes of Life. He has authored or coauthored ten books, and spoken to all the major career conferences. Dick and his work have appeared many times in national print publications.
Dick was trained in chemical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, holds a bachelor’s degree cum laude in physics from Harvard University, and a master’s in sacred theology from General Theological (Episcopal) Seminary in New York City. John is creator of the Well-Being Model, which integrates research from psychology, economics, medicine, and other fields. His model has been used for employee education by federal government agencies, alumni associations, professional associations, AARP, the United Way, FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” employers and others.
His work has appeared in print and online in TIME, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Business Week and many others. He’s spoken to a wide range of national conferences, including the Financial Planning Association, Society for Human Resource Management, International Career Development Conference and others.
